the tunnel

The network converges and pulls apart like breath. I sample and remix the media. Late at night, on and off the web - 'Save Picture As', cut and paste, 'Set Layer Properties', image upon image - until something finally happens. The process, or experience, is difficult to explain. It is as if certain images speak to one another, share a mutual language, or memory. Visual coincidences are prodded into existence. The raw material for these digital images comes from: mobile phone images taken on the London Underground, 7th July 2005; ancient coins and jars from the Middle East; archive images from the London Underground during the Second World War; merry-go-rounds from Middle America. Figures not present in the orginal images have begun to take shape.
Some of the the following images have been further manipulated to create interactive animations, designed to be 'played' with live electronic music. Try a web taster of the project.
